May 2011-               Senior Programme Officer for Engagement, Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). Responsible for communications, outreach and strategic partnerships.

2000-2006               Environment Correspondent, BBC News.  Based in London, covered environment for radio news programmes, with extensive work also for TV      news and online services.  Prominent issues included the Foot and Mouth disease crisis of 2001, UN climate change negotiations, reform of the EU Common Agricultural Policy.

1997-2000               Environment and Transport Correspondent, BBC News 24. Part of the original team of journalists on the BBC's first "rolling" domestic TV news channel, involving extensive live location broadcasting. Prominent events included the Kyoto climate conference of 1997, the inquiry into the BSE crisis and the Ladbroke Grove rail disaster.

1995-1997              Wales Correspondent, BBC News. Reported on news from Wales for the full range of TV and radio programmes. Prominent stories included the Sea Empress oil tanker spill in Milford Haven and its environmental aftermath, the closure of the last deep coal mine in Wales, and the referendum on Welsh devolution.

1988-1995              Political Correspondent, BBC Wales. Worked in the Westminster Parliament and in Wales covering parliamentary issues for BBC Wales radio and TV programmes. Member of the parliamentary Lobby, covered local and national elections and all the main party conferences.

1986-1988              News producer, BBC Radio Wales.

1983-1986              Reporter, Western Mail newspaper, Cardiff. Entered on the Thomson Regional Newspapers graduate training scheme, passing proficiency test for the National Council for the Training of Journalists.
